Acting International est une école de formation professionnelle de comédiens pour le théâtre, le cinéma et la télévision. Elle a été fondée en 1980 par Robert Cordier du Directors Unit de l’Actors Studio, New York[1] L'école est établie à Paris, New York et Hollywood[2]

Formation

Acting International propose un cursus de formation professionnelle sur trois ans comportant deux filières : « théâtre et cinéma » et « cinéma »[2].

Les travaux de fin d'études sont présentés chaque année devant un public de professionnels sur une grande scène parisienne pour le cursus théâtre et au Festival de Cannes[3] pour le cursus cinéma.

L’enseignement est fondé sur une convergence entre des techniques américaines, européennes et russes et puise chez Stella Adler, Bertolt Brecht, Michael Chekhov, Charles Dullin, Jerzy Grotowski, Louis Jouvet, Sandy Meisner, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Constantin Stanislavski, Lee Strasberg ou encore Evgueny Vakhtangov. Acting International a publié une série de brochures consacrées à ces techniques [4].

Ateliers aux États Unis

Acting International organise des ateliers de perfectionnement à New York et Hollywood, traduits en français et animés par des formateurs professionnels; Deux de ses professeurs américaines donnent également des ateliers au sein d'Acting International à Paris : Carol Fox Prescott (dont la méthode est décrite dans le livre Master Teachers of America[5]) et Cathleen Leslie (membre du jury de l'Actors Studio[6]).

Professeurs

Les professeurs d'Acting International sont issus d'écoles telles que les conservatoires nationaux, école de la rue Blanche (ENSATT), école Jacques Lecoq, Actors Studio, New York, Harold Clurman’s master Classes, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, école du mime Marceau, cours Charles Dullin, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, Théâtre d'art de Moscou, MGIK, GITIS ou encore Académie russe des arts du théâtre, à Moscou[7], etc.

Post-formation

L'école dispose d'un Bureau de Casting chargé de mettre à la disposition des élèves les offres de casting pendant et après leurs études. Acting International possède aussi sa propre unité de production, Acting International Productions, qui finance des spectacles et des films faisant travailler les anciens élèves d'Acting International.
