Coorg: Kodagu

Kodagu, en anglais Coorg, en kannada : ಕೊಡಗು, est un district de l'État de Karnataka, en Inde. Situé dans les Ghâts occidentaux, sa superficie est de 4,100 km² pour 548.561 habitants (2001). Son chef-lieu est Madikeri.

Il est borné par les districts de Dakshina Kannada au nord-ouest, d'Hassan, au nord, de Maïssour à l'est, et par l'État du Kérala au sud et sud-ouest.

Ce district, d'abord gouverné par des radjahs indépendants, fut conquis en 1632 par les Nairs. En 1773, Haïder-Ali s'empara de ce district, mais en 1788 le radjah qui en avait été chassé parvint à s'y rétablir et se déclara l'allié des Anglais contre Tippu-Sahib, le fils d'Haïder-Ali.
