A Vindication of the Rights of Woman: with Strictures on Political and Moral Subjects traduit en français par Défense des droits de la femme ou Défense des droits des femmes est un essai féministe publié en 1792 par l’écrivaine britannique Mary Wollstonecraft.

Dédié à Talleyrand cet ouvrage défend le droit à l’instruction des femmes contre les théoriciens de l’éducation qui voulaient refuser l’éducation aux femmes. Wollstonecraft affirme que les femmes doivent avoir une éducation s’accordant à leur position dans la société. Elle redéfinit ensuite cette position, en affirmant que les femmes sont essentielles à la nation parce qu’elles assurent l’éducation de ses enfants. Wollstonecraft soutient que les femmes sont des êtres humains méritant les mêmes droits fondamentaux que les hommes et non des objets décoratifs pour la société ou des propriétés échangeables à travers le mariage.
