Birkbeck College
Fondé en 1823, le Birkbeck College fait partie de l'Université de Londres et est une université résolument tournée vers la recherche de classe mondiale[réf. nécessaire], un centre d'excellence académique spécialisé dans l'éducation de la population active londonienne.
Les cours ont lieu en grande majorité le soir et les week-ends. La population étudiante est majoritairement constituée de personnes exerçant un emploi à plein temps la journée et désireux de parfaire leur parcours académique.
Birkbeck propose de nombreux cours et diplômes dans un de ces quatre départements :
- Faculté de Sciences: Chimie, Biologie, Cristallographie, Sciences de la terre, Psychologie.
- Faculté de Sciences Sociales: Informatique et systèmes d'informations, Economie, Mathématiques et Statistiques, Géographie, Management et Psychologie organisationnelle.
- Faculté d'Arts: Anglais et Humanités, Histoire et Archéologie, Histoire de l'Art, Film et Média visuels, Langage, Linguistique et Culture, Droit, Philosophie, Politique et sociologie.
- Faculté de Formation Continue.
Historiquement implanté en plein centre de Londres dans le carré universitaire de Bloomsbury (proche de UCL, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Science, School of Oriental and African Studies), Birkbeck dispose depuis 2006 également d'une implantation à Stratford, dans l'est de Londres.
