La Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) est une association internationale à but non lucratif créée en 1991 par Monty Lunde. Elle représente les créateurs, développeurs, concepteurs et producteurs de spectacles. Sa mission, comme indiqué dans ses statuts, est de faciliter le dialogue et la communication entre ses membres, à stimuler la connaissance et la croissance professionnelle, d'élargir la taille, la diversité et la sensibilisation de l'industrie du divertissement à la thématisation^[1].

Chaque année, en partenariat avec Economics Research Associates, l'association publie l'Attraction Attendance Report. Ce rapport fait état du classement des principaux parcs de loisirs en termes de visiteurs.

Thea awards

La Themed Entertainment Association présente chaque année les Thea awards qui ont pour but de récompenser les meilleurs réalisations et projets dans le domaine de la thématisation, la scénographie et la mise en valeur des lieux de loisir. Ces prix récompenses des parcs à thèmes, des entreprise de créations ou des personnes liées à ces domaines. Le nom du prix (dérivé du nom de l'association) fait référence à la déesse grecque Théa^[2].

Le premier prix fut décerné en 1994. Le jury à l'époque composé de Bob Rogers, Pat Scanlon et Barry Howard décide de remettre le prix de l'année à un vétéran de l'industrie, un membre des Disney Legends ; Harrison Price^[2]. L'année suivante, le prix fut donné à Marty Sklar pour sa carrière^[3].

A partir de 1996, plusieurs prix furent remis lors de cette même cérémonie. Toujours un prix décerné à une personnalité pour sa carrière dans le milieu mais au fur et à mesure des prix récompensant les parcs, aquariums, zoos, spectacles, restaurants et attractions remarquables.
