Barry John, né le 6 janvier 1945 à Cefneithin, est un joueur de rugby gallois, jouant demi d'ouverture.

Il a été surnommé The King lors de la tournée des Lions en 1971 en Nouvelle-Zélande. Il possèdait toutes les qualités: toucher de balle, vitesse lui permettant de percer les défenses, vision du jeu pour diriger le jeu au pied et enfin la précision dans les coups de pieds.

Après des débuts à Llanelli RFC, il rejoint Cardiff où il va former avec Gareth Edwards l'une des meilleures paires de demi de l'histoire. Dès 1966, il fait ses débuts internationaux contre l'Australie. En 1968, les Lions reconduisent la paire du Pays de Galles, John-Edwards et en font la paire de leur équipe en tournée en Afrique du Sud. Malheureusement, une blessure l'empêche de poursuivre la tournée.

1971 sera sa grande année. Après un Grand Chelem dans le tournoi des 5 nations avec un essai crucial pour gagner à Paris contre le XV de France, il partipe à la tournée des Lions en 1971 en Nouvelle-Zélande et en Australie. il sera déterminant lors des 1er et 3e tests matchs.

Il se retire au sommet de sa carrière à 27 ans en 1972.
