Bernard Lonergan, Ordre du Canada, (17 décembre 1904 - 26 novembre 1984) est un prêtre jésuite canadien, philosophe, économiste et théologien dans la tradition thomiste, professeur à l'Université pontificale grégorienne et au Boston College. Il a publié, entre autres, Insight: A Study of Human Understanding (1957) et Method in Theology (1972), textes fondateurs de ce qu'il appelle la « Méthode empirique généralisée ».
