Aletta Henriëtta Jacobs (9 février 185410 août 1929) est un médecin et une militante féministe et pacificiste néerlandaise.

Biographie

Devenue la première femme médecin de son pays en 1879, Aletta Jacobs mena durant toute sa vie une intense activité militante. Favorable à une intervention accrue de l’État dans le domaine de la santé, elle défendit le droit des femmes à contrôler leur fécondité à travers la contraception[1].

Elle fut l’une des meneuses du mouvement pour le droit de vote des femmes dans son pays mais également au niveau international où elle s’impliqua dans l’Alliance internationale pour le suffrage des femmes (International Woman Suffrage Alliance).

Elle défendit une position pacifiste lors de la Première Guerre mondiale, en étant notamment à l’initiative de la conférence de La Haye de 1915 qui donna naissance à un Comité international des femmes pour une paix permanente (International Committee of Women for Permanent Peace)[2].
