Pansement
Un pansement est un dispositif permettant de recouvrir une plaie situé sur la peau.
Au Québec, le pansement adhésif est parfois désigné plaster, nom commun en anglais.
Le pansement a plusieurs buts :
- protéger la plaie (contre une infection, une irritation) ;
- permettre une meilleure cicatrisation en conservant l'humidité de la plaie ;
- faire cesser un saignement minime en comprimant les petits vaisseaux ;
- rapprocher les berges d'une plaie.
Les différents types de pansements
- Une de ses formes les plus communes dans la vie quotidienne se présente sous la forme d'une fine compresse maintenue sur la plaie par un adhésif.
- Le film adhésif semi perméable permet de laisser passer l'air et la vapeur d'eau. Il est très souple et peut être utilisé au niveau d'articulations par exemple.
- Ce dernier peut être associé à une couche de gel hydro-colloïdes, d'alginates ou d'hydro-gel, permettant une meilleure hydratation de la plaie et une cicatrisation favorisée. Le choix d'un type de pansement dépend du caractère plus ou moins exsudatif de la plaie (produisant plus ou moins d'eau) et son degré d'humidité.
Le gel peut être imprégné en certains produits : antiseptiques, corticoïdes pour limiter les bourgeonnements trop importants.
Effets indésirables des pansements
- Le patient peut être allergique à l'un des composants du pansement : film plastique, gel, adhésif.
- Un pansement trop adhésif ou desséché peut être douloureux à l'ablation.
- Un pansement non transparent peut gêner l'inspection de la plaie.
- Un pansement trop occlusif entraîne des risques de macération, ce qui favorise les infections.
