Synopsis

Bobby Cooper (Sean Penn) pète une durite en plein milieu de nulle part sur une route dans le désert. Il se rend à la petite ville de Superior où un garagiste demeuré avec une tronche halluciante (Billy Bob Thornton) lui annonce des délais de réparations conséquents. Obligé de prendre son mal en patience Bobby a l'occasion de se frotter à la stupidité des locaux mais aussi de s'attirer des ennuis lorsqu'il tente de séduire la superbe Grace (Jennifer Lopez) qui est mariée à l'atrabilaire Jake (Nick Nolte).
