Syndication est un mot anglais qui désigne la pratique consistant à vendre le droit de reproduire un contenu ou de diffuser un programme à plusieurs diffuseurs. Le système de la syndication a été créé par la presse écrite américaine, les syndicates vendant leur production (cartoons, comic-strips, chroniques, etc.) à plusieurs journaux locaux.

En finance, il désigne l'opération par laquelle un prêt est consenti par un syndicat de plusieurs banques à un emprunteur.

C'est une pratique commune à la télévision ou dans les journaux, par exemple avec le King Features Syndicate. Aux États-Unis, c'est par la syndication que les stations locales indépendantes remplissent la plus grande partie de leur grille de programme[réf. nécessaire].

En France, ce type d'opération est proposé par des structures confidentielles comme :

- Ampersand : un vaste catalogue composé exclusivement de documentaires

- DB2M Productions : un catalogue composé exclusivement de magazines de divertissement et de programmes courts.

Un contrat de syndication donne le droit de diffuser un programme un nombre de fois fixé sur une période de temps déterminée (par exemple trois fois sur une période de deux ans). Les programmes vendus en syndication peuvent soit être créés spécifiquement pour ce mode de commercialisation (il s'agit le plus souvent de jeux ou de talk-shows), soit avoir été préalablement diffusés par un grand réseau (séries télévisées).

En finance, la syndication désigne l'opération par laquelle un prêt est consenti par un syndicat de plusieurs banques à un emprunteur. Une des banques intervient en tant que bookrunner, prenant la tête du syndicat. La syndication bancaire est généralement réservée à des prêts importants qu'une banque seule ne veut pas assumer en raison du risque.
