Şəki (parfois orthographié Shaki ou Sheki) est une ville du nord-ouest de l'Azerbaïdjan. La ville compte 63 000 habitants (2003). Elle est entièrement enclavée dans le raion de Shaki mais constitue une subdivision administrative distincte.

Géographie

Les sommets des monts neigeux du Grand Caucase atteignent de 3000 à 3600 m d’altitude dans certaines parties. Le climat de Sheki est composé de cyclone et d’anticyclone, de différentes masses d’air et des vents locaux. La température moyenne annuelle à Sheki est de 12°C. En juin et août la température moyenne quotidienne est de 20° à 25°C. Sheki est situé à la hauteur de 500 à 850 m d’altitude au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Les forêts de montagne autour des localités empêchent le réchauffement de la ville. Les forêts de montagne permettent de protéger la ville des inondations et décorent l’aspect de la ville. Dans les forêts, parmi les arbres, il y a l’hêtre et le noisetier. La faune y est riche. Les terres brunes sont réparties sur tout le territoire. Les principales rivières de la ville sont Kish et Gurdjana.
