Sépia
La sépia est un liquide sécrété par la seiche. C'est une matière colorante brune utilisée comme pigment (aquarelle, craies, mines) pour le dessin au lavis. Il est aussi utilisé en cuisine notamment pour le risotto noir.
L'encre sépia peut être fabriquée à partir des noix de galle du chêne broyées et bouillies puis filtrées.

En photographie le Sépia est une qualité de tirage qui ressemble au noir et blanc, mais avec des variations de brun, et non de gris.
