Service des avions français instrumentés pour la recherche en environnement

SAFIRE est l'acronyme de Service des Avions Français Instrumentés pour la Recherche en Environnement.

Le SAFIRE est une Unité Mixte de Services (n°2859), qui met en œuvre trois avions de recherche :

  • Un Falcon 20, propriété du CNRS-INSU
  • Un ATR 42, propriété de Météo-France
  • Un Piper Aztec, propriété de Météo-France

Ces avions constituent des outils d'investigation pour la recherche climatique et environnementale, la validation satellitaire et le développement aéronautique.

Le SAFIRE a pour mission de mettre ces avions à la disposition de la communauté scientifique pour réaliser des campagnes expérimentales. Ces avions peuvent également être utilisés pour des applications industrielles.

Les moyens humains et financiers du SAFIRE sont mis à disposition par le CNRS/INSU, Météo France et le CNES.

Validations instrumentales :

  • Pod-Airbus (2005)
  • Adeline-Thalès (2005 à 2007)

Météorologie pour l'aéronautique :

  • Flysafe (2008)

  • A-Train
  • Calipso
  • SMOS
