Le taxon des artiodactyles (Artiodactyla), du grec artios « pair » et dactylos « doigt », est, selon la classification traditionnelle, un ordre de mammifères placentaires. La proche parenté entre les hippopotamidés et les cétacés semble avérée, sur la base d'analyses génétiques, ce qui signifie que ce taxon est paraphylétique. La réunion des artiodactyles avec les cétacés forme le taxon des cétartiodactyles, qui est, lui, monophylétique.

La définition traditionnelle les présente comme des ongulés possédant un nombre pair de doigts par pied, et dont le poids est supporté à part égale par les troisième et quatrième doigts, contrairement aux périssodactyles, qui possèdent un nombre impair de doigts, et chez lesquels le poids est supporté essentiellement par le troisième doigt.

Les plus anciens fossiles connus du taxon datent de 50 à 60 millions d'années. Le groupe a actuellement une répartition mondiale, sauf l'Australie et la Nouvelle-Zélande, du moins avant l'importation récente d'animaux domestiques. Il comprend environ 300 espèces, dont les deux tiers de ruminants.
