Philip Short est un journaliste britannique né à Bristol en 1945.
Après des études à l'Université de Cambridge, il a travaillé à la BBC comme correspondant étranger pendant plus de vingt-cinq ans, notamment à Pékin. Il a notamment publié deux biographies: une sur Pol Pot en 2004, et une sur Mao, Mao Tsé-Toung (2005).
