Incubus (groupe metal)

Incubus est un groupe de death metal originaire de Louisiane aux États-Unis et fondé en 1986.

Biographie

Lorsque ce groupe sortit son premier album le style death metal était encore relativement peu populaire. Entre autres particularités, Incubus jouait en trio, ce qui est rare dans son style de musique.

10 ans après la sortie de son deuxième album, le groupe dut changer de nom pour son troisième album et devint Opprobrium. En effet, entre temps, le nom Incubus avait été repris par un autre groupe (cf Homonymie, Incubus). Le label allemand Nuclear Blast, qui avait réédité les précédentes productions du groupe lui permit d’enregistrer Discerning Forces.

NB : un autre groupe, actif à peu près aux mêmes années (1986 et suivantes), s'appelait aussi Incubus, mais venait de Floride. On peut facilement les confondre, car les deux jouaient dans un style proche !

  • Francis Howard (guitare et aussi voix à partir de Beyond The Unknown)
  • Moyses Howard (batterie)
  • Scott Latour (basse, voix au début)

Francis & Moyses sont frères. On peut aussi entendre Francis Howard sur l’album Eaten Back To Life de Cannibal Corpse en tant que voix additionnelle sur les morceaux Mangled et A Skull Full Of Maggots
