Le cobra egyptien (Naja haje) est une espèce de serpent venimeux qui vit en Afrique du Nord et au Moyen-Orient.

En Afrique du Nord, et tout particulièrement en Égypte, le terme Aspic est employé pour désigner le (Naja haje), aux réactions particulièrement foudroyantes et au venin neurotoxique mortel.

La reine Cléopâtre, selon la légende, se serait suicidée en se laissant mordre par un tel cobra. La légende veut d'ailleurs qu'elle se soit fait mordre au sein, mais selon certaines sources, il semble plus vraisemblable que le serpent l'ait attaquée au bras.
