Meyer Levin (1905-1981), fils d’un petit boutiquier de Chicago, était un romancier et un journaliste américain.
Biographie
Il couvrit l’affaire Leopold et Loeb lorsqu’il était reporter au Daily News, et en tira un roman, Crime [1], en 1956. Meyer Levin était allé à la même université que les deux tueurs (l’Université de Chicago) et les connaissait personnellement avant qu’ils n’assassinent Bobby Franks. Son roman servit de base en 1959 pour un film[2] relatant la sordide machination meurtrière mise au point par Leopold & Loeb.
Meyer Levin fut également un des premiers journalistes à découvrir l’existence du journal d’Anne Frank et à reconnaître le potentiel littéraire et dramatique de ce document.
Il était le père du photographe Mikael Levin et a été marié à Tereska Torrès.
