Massimo Stanzione

Massimo Stanzione ou Stanzioni (Orta di Atella, Caserta, ~1585 - Naples, ~1658) est un peintre italien.

Biographie

Massimo Stanzione, qui a été l'élève de Fabrizio Santafede, a enrichi sa formation à Rome vers 1617 en s'orientant vers une peinture éclectique qui trouve son inspiration dans les œuvres diverses de le Caravage, Guido Reni, Artemisia Gentileschi et une production napolitaine moins élaborée.

De son abondante production on peut retenir ses fresques et toiles pour la chapelle San Mauro (1631-1637) et pour la chapelle Battista (1644-1651) à la Chartreuse de San Martino à Naples.

Bernardo Cavallino, Giacinto de Popoli et Andrea Malinconico ont été ses élèves, comme Agostino Beltrano et sa femme Aniella di Beltrano.
