Mario Duplantier (19 juin 1981, France - ) est le batteur du groupe de death metal français Gojira.

Il joue aussi dans un side-project appelé Empalot.

Style

Mario Duplantier a commencé la batterie à l'âge de 11 ans. Il a arrêté ses études après l'obtention de son BAC littéraire pour pouvoir se consacrer à son instrument.

Après avoir beaucoup travaillé en écoutant des batteurs comme Pete Sandoval (Morbid Angel) ou Sean Reinert (Death, Cynic, Aghora, Portal, Aeon Spoke), mais aussi Igor Cavalera (Sepultura), son jeu s'est orienté vers un style plus personnel percussif, massif et travaillé.

Ce qui distingue Mario Duplantier des autres batteurs de Metal, c'est qu'il associe un jeu de double grosse caisse rapide, précis et puissant à un touché rapide et varié.
