L'anglicisme Low-tech (Basse technique), par opposition à High-tech, est attribué à des techniques apparemment simples, économiques et populaires. Elles peuvent faire appel au recyclage de machines récemment tombées en désuétude.
La revendication de l'usage des Low-tech témoigne de la volonté de s'opposer aux modes technologiques, considérées comme mercantiles, avilissantes et déraisonnables écologiquement.
Certains artistes contemporains disent faire usage des Low-tech dans leurs pratiques, notamment dans les domaines de l'Art numérique, des Arts scientifiques, du net art, de la Musique bruitiste, de la Musique électroacoustique ou de la Musique électronique.[réf. nécessaire]
