Angel in heavy syrup

Angel In Heavy Syrup est un groupe de musique psychédélique japonais, fondé à Osaka en 1990 par Fusao Toda et Mine Nakao, toutes deux guitaristes, Mineko Itakura, à la basse et au chant et Tomoko Takahara à la batterie. Elles ont enregistré quatre albums et participé aux compilations Land Of The Rising Noise (1993, Charnel House), Dance 2 Noise II (1994, Victor) et Guitar Uncontrolled (1997, Alchemy Records).

Mineko Itakura a chanté sur l'album éponyme du groupe japonais Slapp Happy Humphrey. Fusao Toda fait partie du groupe Christine 23 Onna aux côtés de l'artiste noise, Masonna.


Dans une entrevue publiée dans le no 5 de Dead Angel, le groupe cite quelques-uns de ses groupes favoris : « Jacks, Soft Machine, Amon Düül, Sugar Kyte, Yoshio Hayakawa, C.A.Quintet, High Tide, Bobby Callender, Babe the Blue Ox, Smashing Pumpkins... »

On reconnaît également dans leur musique des influences de la musique psychédélique de la fin des années 1960, des éléments de rock progressif et de krautrock allemand. Le groupe doit également beaucoup à Morita Doji, une chanteuse japonaise qui a enregistré des albums aux sonorités psyché folk.
