n. f.

état de ce qui est agité. L’agitation de la mer. L’agitation des nerfs. être dans une grande agitation d’esprit. L’amour, la haine, le désir, la crainte causent différentes agitations dans l’âme. Il y a une grande agitation dans les esprits. Calmer l’agitation des esprits. Il y avait de l’agitation dans l’assemblée. L’agitation était à son comble. Il y a de l’agitation parmi la foule.

Il se dit particulièrement, en termes de Médecine, d’un Mouvement continuel et fatigant du corps, occasionné soit par une cause physique, soit par une inquiétude morale. L’agitation de ce malade est un symptôme fâcheux.
