Partie d’un tout divisé, ou considéré comme tel. Les héritiers ont partagé tout le bien du défunt en quatre portions. Portions égales. Portions inégales. La moindre portion. La meilleure portion. Portion de cercle. Il ne retint pour lui qu’une faible portion de l’autorité.

PORTION désigne aussi une Certaine quantité de pain, de viande, etc., qu’on donne, dans le repas, à chacun en particulier. Il se dit surtout en parlant des Collèges, des Communautés religieuses. Servir une portion. Grossir la portion. Diminuer la portion.
