Art de construire, de disposer et d’orner les édifices. Ancienne et moderne architecture. Architecture grecque, romaine, byzantine, romane, gothique. Les cinq ordres d’architecture. Chef-d’oeuvre d’architecture.

Architecture militaire, Art de fortifier les places. Architecture navale, Art de construire les vaisseaux. Architecture hydraulique, Art de faire des machines pour la conduite des eaux.

Il désigne aussi la Disposition et l’ordonnance d’un bâtiment. Voilà une belle architecture, une mauvaise architecture. Un beau morceau d’architecture.
