INFLAMMATION

INFLAMMATION: n. f.

Action par laquelle une matière combustible s’enflamme, ou Résultat de cette action. Le feu prit aux poudres, et l’inflammation fut si prompte qu’elle fit un ravage affreux.

Il signifie figurément, en termes de Médecine, état morbide caractérisé surtout par la chaleur, la douleur, la rougeur et la tuméfaction de la partie malade. Il y a de l’inflammation à cette plaie. Inflammation des gencives. Inflammation des paupières. Inflammation d’entrailles.
