DRAGON

DRAGON: . s. m.
Animal fabuleux qu'on représente avec des griffes, des ailes et une queue de serpent. Le dragon qui gardait le jardin des Hespérides. Figurément, Le dragon infernal, Le démon. Il se dit, par analogie, en Histoire naturelle, de Certains petits lézards des pays chauds, qui ont une aile membraneuse de chaque côté du corps, et qui voltigent avec légèreté d'un arbre à un autre. Il se dit, figurément et familièrement, d'Une femme vive, turbulente, acariâtre, ou d'Un enfant mutin et déterminé. Cette femme est un vrai dragon. C'est un vrai dragon, un petit dragon.

DRAGON, en termes d'Astronomie, se dit d'Une constellation de l'hémisphère boréal. La tête et la queue du Dragon, Les deux points opposés où l'écliptique est coupée par l'orbite de la lune.

DRAGON, se dit encore Des soldats d'un corps de cavalerie qui combat quelquefois à pied, et dont l'uniforme, en France, est ordinairement de drap vert. Il est dans les dragons. Le premier régiment de dragons. Une compagnie de dragons. Colonel de dragons. Capitaine de dragons. Le casque d'un dragon.

DRAGON, se dit aussi d'Une tache qui vient dans la prunelle des hommes et des chevaux. Il a un dragon dans l'oeil.
