. s. m.
T. de Chirur. Application méthodique des bandes, compresses, et autres pièces destinées à maintenir un appareil sur une partie du corps. Faire un bandage. Ce chirurgien entend très-bien le bandage.   Il se dit aussi de La bande même dont on serre, dont on entoure quelque partie du corps. Appliquer un bandage. Délier un bandage. Bandage compressif. Bandage inguinal. Bandage en T. Bandage élastique.   Il se dit, particulièrement, d'Une sorte de bande d'acier élastique, courbée en arc, garnie à son extrémité d'une ou deux pelotes, et qu'on attache avec une courroie autour des reins pour contenir les hernies ou descentes. Bandage herniaire. Porter un bandage.   Bandage simple, Celui dont on se sert pour la descente qui n'est que d'un côté. Bandage double, Celui qui est garni de deux pelotes pour la double hernie.

BANDAGE, en parlant De roues et d'autres machines semblables, se dit Des bandes de fer ou d'autre métal qui les entourent, et qui les serrent pour les tenir en état. Le bandage de ces roues ne vaut plus rien.
