Celui qui travaille dans un art où le génie et la main doivent concourir, qui cultive les arts libéraux. Un peintre, un sculpteur, un musicien, un architecte, sont des artistes. Grand, célèbre artiste. Il s'emploie quelquefois au féminin. Une jeune artiste.   Artiste vétérinaire, Médecin vétérinaire.
