MARCHE: . s. f.
Degré, partie d'un escalier sur laquelle on pose le pied pour monter ou pour descendre. Marche d'escalier. Les marches d'un perron. Marche d'autel. Marche de pierre, de marbre, de bois, de gazon. Vous avez encore deux marches à monter, deux marches à descendre.

Fig., Être sur les marches du trône, être assis, être placé sur les marches du trône, se dit D'un prince appelé par sa naissance à remplacer celui qui règne.

MARCHE, se dit aussi Des pièces de bois sur lesquelles les tourneurs, les tisserands, etc., posent les pieds pour faire mouvoir leurs métiers.
