Dessein, vue ; mouvement de l'âme par lequel on tend à quelque fin. Bonne intention. Mauvaise intention. Une intention droite, louable. Avoir intention, l'intention de faire quelque chose. Mon intention n'était pas de vous déplaire. Si j'ai fait cela, c'est bien contre mon intention, c'est sans intention. Cet homicide a-t-il été commis avec intention ? Il faut considérer l'intention du testateur, du fondateur. Quelle a été l'intention du législateur ? Rechercher la commune intention des parties contractantes. Il faut regarder l'intention. On dit dans un sens analogue, Direction d'intention ou de l'intention.   Direction d'intention, s'emploie plus ordinairement en parlant De ceux qui, pour sauver ce qu'il y a de mauvais dans un discours, dans une action, allèguent l'innocence de leur motif, de leur intention. Il n'y a rien qu'on ne prétende justifier par la direction d'intention.
