. s. f.
Justice naturelle, droiture. Il juge avec équité. Contre toute équité. En toute équité. Selon l'équité. Homme plein d'équité. C'est un homme sans équité, qui n'a point d'équité. Manquer à toutes les règles de l'équité. Violer les règles de l'équité.   Il signifie quelquefois, La justice exercée, non pas selon la rigueur de la loi, mais avec une modération et un adoucissement raisonnable. Il fut absous, parce qu'on eut plus d'égard à l'équité qu'à la justice rigoureuse. Les arbitres jugent plutôt selon les règles de l'équité que suivant la rigueur des lois. Les Anglais ont un tribunal appelé Cour d'équité.
